Byron, Day 3

This morning was similar to yesterday. We had breakfast and went to the beach...only the waves were not as good. After some sun, we went back to the B&B to rest and do some reading, then decided to go for a hike to the lighthouse at the edge of town. It is the most easterly point in Australia and is quite a hike. Well, maybe we're just too used to walking on flat surfaces.

We walked through to rainforest area and came upon a hang glider launching point. The third of three was about to launch - we were hoping to see him take-off, but they were taking too long so we moved on with our hike.

South of the lighthouse was an area that was so windy we figured Stephanie’s dad and all of the other windsurfers we know would love to be there. Still trying to figure out why this beautiful beach would be so deserted, we figured it must be pretty difficult to access.

View of the lighthouse and overlooking Byron Bay:

We walked back along the beach, it was a gorgeous day and the walk was wonderful. As we got back to the main beach, we decided to sit on the grass for a moment and relax and take in the scene. Not a moment passed before Stephanie felt a sting in her leg – a wasp or bee had stung her. We went to the lifeguard, got some ice as it started to swell, and then walked to the pharmacy to buy some StingGo, a spray the lifeguard recommended. That helped, but now we were both itching from mosquitoes and a bee/wasp bite.
We capped off the evening by cooking another meal in the B&B kitchen, drinking some wine, and trying not to itch our multiple bites too much.

Sorry about the sting, but can I just say that this post took me on my own imaginary vacay, and I got all weepy. Or it could just be bc I miss your presence. :-/
