We woke up and caught a taxi to the airport in Adelaide where we realized they offered free internet. If we had known this beforehand, we would have arrived at the airport 3 hours early!
Caught our flight to Sydney, had a quick lunch in the food court area before boarding our JetStar flight (similar to Jet Blue, but without the DirecTV). As we landed in Ballina, it started to rain, so we were happy to go directly to our transportation. We rode a shuttle bus to Byron Bay with a couple of guys from New York who had been in Sydney for the gay Mardi Gras that was in Sydney over the previous weekend...apparently, they had such a good time and needed to go to Byron Bay to recoup.
When we arrived in Byron, we saw all of the backpackers and youth that are constantly coming through this town. Byron reminds us a little of Santa Cruz - very hippy and "alternative." It has one main street that leads to the beach, but luckily we are staying in a little bed & breakfast off the main street so we were able to relax and stay away from the madness. We decided to go to the Northern Hotel, where Stephanie had eaten a quick lunch on her previous trip to Oz, to grab a beer, and a bite to eat. As we sat down, the rain gods decided they needed to unload...and we forgot our umbrellas. Time for another beer! After the rain stopped, we explored town – all two blocks of it. At least it's colorful? We had some dinner and went to bed early.
